Florida Highway Patrol Will Have A DUI Checkpoint On 8/27/10
The Florida Highway Patrol has announced that they will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint on 8/27/2010 on US319 just north of State Road 267. It is part of an ongoing effort to promote safe driving and to discourage motorists from driving while drunk. They will also be checking for valid drivers licenses, vehicle registration and proof of auto insurance.
Motorists in the area are encouraged to notify the Highway Patrol if they see any suspicious drivers that may be drunk. This can easily be done by dialing Star FHP (*347) on your cell phone.
Always designate a driver if you plan to be drinking and never get behind the wheel even if you think you are “OK” to drive. It is also a good idea to look out for friends and relatives who appear to drunk to drive. Take their keys and have a sober person take them home or call a cab for them.
Why Buy Auto Insurance Online?
With the recent boom of comparison websites many people are finding that in addition to getting quotes they can also buy auto insurance online. Some may wonder if they should use this method or go about the more traditional ways of getting a policy such as going into a local agency. There are advantages and disadvantages for both options so it is eventually up to you the customer to make your decision.
Buying Auto Insurance Online vs In Person
There are several advantages if you prefer to buy car insurance online instead of in person. First of all there are many companies that are now offering discounts for those who use this option. This perk alone is enough to make someone make up their mind about using the web to get their policy started. There also is the fact that it is a very fast and easy process to complete. With today’s technology you can use what is called e-signatures to sign you forms and documents instead of wet ink. This makes it a breeze to get insured and it only requires a click instead of writing in your name.
One thing that may hinder some people from purchasing insurance online is the fear of inputting their personal information online. Some still feel that it is not safe to type such info into a website. Web security has come along way and most sites use encrypted technology to block potential identity thieves from seeing what you are typing into the required fields. In some cases you can call the company directly and speak with an agent who can input the info for you and email you your documents which can ease some peoples fear of using such methods. As a precaution you should always verify a physical address and any license numbers of brokers or agencies you are in contact with before giving them your drivers license or credit/debit card number.
If you prefer the old way of buying auto insurance you can drive down to a local office and speak with a live person. The downside to this method is that sometimes you have to wait in a lobby to be seen if there are other customers ahead of you that are trying to get a policy as well. Often times the advantage of an in person sale is the ability to slow things down if you need to ask any questions about coverage or pricing. However most websites now offer live chat or over the phone assistance from live agents.
